We moved to Peñoles in 1957 and got the truck a year or so later. John bought it in Oklahoma. Had been used in oil fields. My folks gave us the money and we paid them back at $25 a month [=$220 in 2019]. Early trip when Sharon was 6 months—had been born in 1958. Went out in January of 1959 and we nearly went off into the barranco and we spent the night on the road.
